First notice without fine amount

I once did 137 in a 60 zone, my fine was R1000 after explaining that it was a dual carriage way and I really thought it was a 120 zone. that was back in 2001.

Got caught by camera flying in Pretoria - not too sure about the speed but am quite sure I was at 130kph in a 60 zone.

Summons was "printed" and "sent" to me on 11/12 last year. Aarto's site now state Court Case - I have no date for when this is happening!
Spoke with an attorney - said summons must be served in person, not legal if received via mail.
His advice was simple:
1) Do not rock up at the Metro HQ or Traffic Court - they fingerprint you and have you pay an admission of guilt which equals Criminal Record!
2) Do everything via the Clerk of the Court, preferable via phone. Long distance = safety.
3) Pay whatever the 'Order of Execution' says - that's a Court Order in normal speak - if one is served.
4) The State can not issue a legal warrant of arrest if you didn't receive a summons in person, regardless of what Aarto tries to pull.

Still interested in what happened to Marco though...

I went to court on Monday for one of the NAG fines. What a waste of time.
Wanted to plead guilty, but couldnt plead as the court needed some more documentation.

In any case, magistrate postponed the case till 20 March 2014. Now I have to take another day off work.
Prosecuter was saying anything from R 2000 upwards for a NAG fine.

I was doing 95km/h in a 60 zone BTW.

Any more updates on this?
Does this end up on your Criminal Record?

Also received one of these in Cape Town for 91km/h. Anyone went to court? What happened? Criminal record? Suspended licence?

What if you refuse to pay a fine and insist on going to trial? And then insist on proof that the device used to measure your speed was operated by a qualified person and that the device was calibrated correctly? Surely it's your right to have a trial and to cross-examine the person who actually operated the device?

It was the damn N1, which near the city is apparently only 80km/h, not 120km/h as per normal.
When you say first offence? Do you mean first offence of this type, or for speeding in general? I have had many tickets for speeding before, however this is the first time I have received this type of notice

That's unlucky.

I see people speeding at 120 down the offramps that are marked as 60.
