First Person Shooters on gaming console

Up until about 3 months ago I never owned a gaming console before, so all my games were played on pc. But switching over to a console I find playing fps games much more difficult and so does my kids. They still prefer playing those games on pc, and they're kids, kids can master anything pc or games related.
So does it become any easier the more you play on the console or is playing fps's easier on the pc?
 
Microsoft and Sony should just bring out FPS mouse and keys. I don't understand why they haven't
 
FPS sucks on console, thats why they wont let them play with the real gamers :D

Because console gamers are under the impression they can beat PC gamers in games. I have had this argument before and the guy went on to say "I would own you any day if i was using a console control and you used a keyboard and mouse" I went on to say that he is not allowed to use auto aim. The conversation kind of died there.

Firsly to answer your question, and not flap about PC > Console fanbois talk, yes it does get easier. I have had console for many years, and PC before that. I would rate my skill as better on controller than mouse and keyboard, but because i console a lot more. It eventually becomes second nature as it would have been with you playing PC. Second, have some games on console that isnt first person, but requires quick button use, like a tekken or g.o.w game. this will vary your experience with console controller and get your contoller XP up.
 
I also find it incredibly difficult to play FPS games on console.

In fact the only games I play are racing games and fighting games (MK, Tekken, etc)

Got bored and swapped my console for a house amp and speakers because I ended up not using my console for months and my kids kept breaking the controllers :( Now I'm a fulltime PC gamer once again (probably until the next new console comes uout)
 
TBH the only way I'd consider fps on consoles is either through wii mote or kinect.

I have to disagree .
I have played FPS games on PC since its inception .
I recently (Couple of months) got the Xbox360.
I got myself Halo 3 and at a later stage MW2 and in the beginning i found the controller frustrating , HOWEVER after some time playing it gets easier and easier to the point where it becomes second nature just like keyboard and mouse.
I do feel that keyboard and mouse gives you better accuracy but not by much.
The trick though is to turn you controller sensitivity down. Just like with a mouse , some games will give you the equivalent of mouse acceleration which means the longer you turn the faster you turn.

FPS on consoles are quite fun once you stop actively think about the controller but that comes with some practice.
My advice is that you guys maybe start with something like Halo 3 @ R99 from BTgames (online team deathmatch) as it takes a while for someone to kill you.
Once you feel more comfortable with the controller , then only move on to games where headshots and accuracy matters more. ( MW BF etc etc).

I remember when i started FPS gaming with wolfenstein 3D , doom and we used to play just with keyboard.
With quake 1 i only started playing with the mouse and I battled for a while before it felt natural.
The same was the case with console controllers. Practice a bit before you ditch the option completely .
 
Nothing wrong with it, you guys are just too lazy to adapt. Third person shooters suck ass on the PC too, as do fighters, driving sims and basically everything that isn't FPS or RTS. But you learn to adapt if that's your gaming platform.

i never used to like fps one bit cause of the whole movement on pc

i now have a xbox and dammit i can tell you i would kill you without using auto-aim and i have never seen auto-aim on bf2 or mw2 but mw3 has it and its not fun

im just not online :whistle:

What are you talking about?
Any controller can be used on PC. So 3rd person shooters, fight games and driving sims are exactly the same on PC as on console.

If you play Dirt on your Xbox and I play on PC with my 360 controller how can it be better on console?
 
I should patent the idea of a thumb touch pad as well as a mini slide-out keyboard (like a Sony Experia phone) on the next gen controller.
 
I used to PC game...Now my pc is reserved for downloading and watching movies.

Once you know your controller like the back of your hand (read: long, long hours of gaming) you will find console gaming easier.

Cos I play on my couch, on a large screen and a home theatre system. You play on a desk, on a small screen with crappy PC speakers :p

To get back to your point, I haven't come across many people who have controllers for their PC. Not sure what the reason is.

leather lazyboy 37" lcd screen... I find pc gaming can be very comfortable :p
