The first school term is over and some schools have not yet received textbooks, according to a report on Wednesday.

Limpopo and the Eastern Cape were the most affected, The Star reported.

SA Democratic Teachers Association (Sadtu) spokeswoman Nomusa Cembi said the union had been receiving reports from its members about schools not having all the textbooks they need.

She said in Limpopo about 25 percent of the required textbooks had not been delivered. The most problematic was Grade 11 textbooks for physical science, mathematics, accounting and languages.

Cembi was speaking at the SA Human Rights Commission hearing on Tuesday. The SAHRC is investigating the matter and intends compiling a report and sending it to Parliament.

Last year, schools in Limpopo were without textbooks for the first seven months of the year.
