How would that copy protection work? Your idea sounds like an embedded system. If the data still needs copying across to the host machine then it can be copied somehow. An encrypter IC however would be ideal.

Not sure. Probably quicker these days than a few years back. Looks like there are alot more upgrades these days (or is that warranty returns?) so if every manufacturer jumps onto the USB3 thing next year then it'll probably be quicker than the previous versions.
Yes, Apple were the first to push FW 400 and then FW 800 onto the market. Creating a loyal set, who now demand it (me included).Last I used FW was back when I used some Macs, maybe 9 years ago. I've still to try it on something more modern. It's just that things with it on seem to be geared mainly for Mac and when for PC they're expensive. Then again, I didn't buy a big-ass PC case to have many external bits.![]()
