For my sins I get to travel overseas a few times a year. A month ago while in Ottowa - Capital of Canada, I wipped out my lap top to VPN into my SA server at work. - Guess what, no HSDPA, not even 3G. So I thought, I will try another Cell tower. I went to the nearest Cell shop to enquire as to where I could get 3G

Yep, you guessed it, they dont have 3G yet. Ottowa will only get the first test site towards the end of this.

And when they saw my Nokia N95 I drew a crowd like bees to ...
The N95 is something they can only drool over on the web.

So, not bad for a little third wold country at the tip of Africa.

However they do have free local landline calls and quite a selection of HD channels.

Plus public servant pensions are linked to the CPI or something...

North American cellphone networks seem to be terrible, much better in Europe.
