Fish paste, Yay or Nay.

I love it, but my family wants to disown me when I open a bottle of the stuff.

Anyone tried it in various combinations? I've always treated it as a singular ingredient on toast but I'm sure it would work with a fried egg, bacon, sausauge etc.

Another thing I've noticed is that I don't enjoy it cold on untoasted bread. I much prefer it on toast. Perhaps the heat releases volatile flavour molecules that aren't present at colder temps...?

Definately a big NAY! In fact I hate this Spread from the Devils loins so much that for example, if I were offered the chance to kiss mmm lets say mmm urg cant think of anyone now but lets say the hottest guy of my dreams...but he just had fish paste...I would not be able to. WOULD ABSOLUTELY REFUSE! BLEH!

It's good with honey or syrup - sweet/savoury combo.

It's good on very fresh untoasted bread - but do not put butter margarine on, just spread the fishpaste.

Pecks yes. The other stuff is kak. Also any other flavour variation is kak. Only the original flavour is nice.

Yay!

Love it on warm toast. Bread is also ok.

At one stage you use to get a 'hot' version with a slight bite in it which was even better but I do not see it around any more.

Yay, but only once in a very long while since I seldom specifically buy the stuff.

This liquid smoke sounds interesting... Where do you get it from, is it expensive, and what are its applications?

Bidorbuy. R100. Plenty of applications - absolutely anything you want a smokey flavour...
