There does not seem to be one, so let's create one.

I am back from a coastal holiday where I (perhaps) overcapitalised on gear, but need this to keep myself going until next year when I can use the stuff again.

In here, you can brag with your catches, gear, hotspots, etc. Any type of fishing goes. Who else enjoys fishing?

enjoy it, barely get out to do it.

heading to the coast soon...wondering if i should try squeeze a rod in the car, never been particularly succesful at sea fishing from the shore/rocks

Every year we go down to the coast on holiday, I take more gear and tackle with, very little success, usually. It is therapeutic, though. You get to stand there like an idiot with a fishing rod, just a man and his thoughts...

Do you have multi piece rods or are you taking a small rod with? Where are you going?

Great, en thanks vir die reply.

Nothing wrong with a bit of papgooi - not as glamorous as fishing for anything better than carp, but it has its place and is enjoyable with the right company. Where do you gooi pap?
Not as glamorous? We they only ones wearing Camo, and you say we not glamorous? Even my gazebo is camo.
I fish any place but prefer where there is bigger fish, like rietvlei dam. But not at these specimen (canned lion) type of venues.

That should be easy enough to just slip into the car and take with.

Do you do any freshwater fishing?

I enjoy bass fishing. Mostly in the Tzaneen area with my uncle. Can papgooi - That's also nice.
Went Tiger fishing once in the Delta, that was a damn nice experience.

My brother has a bass boat and competed in some circuit over the last few years, he has also started custom painting crankbaits. There are many facets to bass fishing, according to him. I am just happy when I manage to catch something.

Haven't ever gone tiger fishing, but I believe that would be awesome.

Lazy carp fisherman when I get the chance, maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Grab some rods, chair, a few beers and hopefully catch something.

It IS still a sport, don't let anybody convince you otherwise. If only I could get vitality points for it...

Some pap gooi on the very odd occasion and maybe some bass fishing as well, it has been ages though.
