Calm was restored on Thursday to the street outside the police’s Personal Protection Services building following an earlier punch-up with members of the Tshwane Metro Police. Management from the two authorities are behind closed doors negotiating a truce.

The incident took place after traffic officers started towing police officers’ private vehicles.

The metro police intended towing away vehicles illegally parked in the street but were met with stiff resistance from South African Police Services (Saps) officers who own the vehicles.

Dozens more metro police arrived in response cars, combis and on bikes when the Towing Unit called for back up. This angered the police, many of whom are responsible for VIP protection, including that of the president.

A scuffle broke out which led to a fist fight between several officers. The police retreated to their headquarters when management stepped in.

They are now sitting in a group, keeping a close eye on the metro police who are milling around their illegally parked cars.

Management from the two authorities are expected to conclude their meeting soon.

I know SAPS are wrong in this case, but I hate Metro more than SAPS ... they're a bunch of overweight twats IMO and all they do is crack down on petty and stupid crimes. You could get hijacked 5m away from a metro cop and they wouldn't even notice ... all they're interested in is harassing citizens for bribes, not once have I heard or seen a Metro cop help stop a crime or catch a criminal.
 
They pulled my dad over once then a cop car came and they started arguing so my bad just drove off :D

don't have a problem with SAPS either, but Metro now they are the Problem. Wife went to work had a flat and drove in to the yellow lane and BAM metro saw her and gave her a R300 ticket. still need 2 go and pay it.

Don't pay it. You can appeal against it, since your wife took the correct action by pulling into the emergency lane
 
Cops were fighting with fists...that must be a first. Don't they have like tasers, blackjacks, pepper sprays, you know, guns?

according to the Metro Person, they said she where driving in the lane to pass the packed up traffic.
don't like to go and argue with them they are always right and i now they are going to press the wrong button.
