Happened around Strelitzia Ave and Lever Road (that area where the stop street is near Olifantsfontein, driver was apparently speeding as well, person didn't mention anything about drinking, just that there was excessive speeding (but ja, many people on here just won't listen).

I hope this guy feels the full wrath of the law and gets what is coming to him.

But having said that... and on an unrelated note.... what is it these days with cyclists and joggers who think they can ride or run three abreast in the road at the same time?
When you give them a friendly honk to let them know that they are sticking out a bit far in to the road, they give you the finger.
I was always taught cyclists and runners should move in single file on the edge of a roadway.

True. I guess it's their way of protesting the way some driver treat them by almost killing them..? It's stupid but I see it happen often enough.

Gary you are so right. If one takes physics in to account a jogger or cyclist will always lose. Are they that dumb?

Deepest sympathy to the families.

Still flabbergasted that people don't get that steel and glass trumps flesh and bones every time - there is no being in the right if you end up dead.

Still believe that zero tolerance should apply to drinking and driving - i.e. blood alcohol level = 0%

With the deterioration of our roads cyclists and joggers alike are in many cases forced to use more of the roadway than intended.

There are some cyclists that tend ignore the basic rules of the road but far too many drivers are way too aggressive and impatient with regards to sharing the road with other road users.

Gave up cycling as it became way too dangerous on the roads.
Taxis were the worst culprits with regards to our personal safety.

You can sit in your comfortable armchairs behind your computer screens and in the safety of your homes and comment.
There is two sides to the story..........................................

Wishing the families of this tragic accident peace love and comfort in this awful time.

Was in just Midrand yesterday visiting some friends. Very sad indeed.
Papa wag vi jou!!!!

The driver was detained at the scene after he tried to walk away from the carnage. Witnesses claim he was so drunk he had to be reminded that he had driven into the joggers .

I hope that SAPS followed the correct procedures so that he does not escape on a technicality. Bubba is waiting for him.
