Fixing a broken SATA drive (the connector)

Hey guys, i broke the connector on my 200GB seagate drive (the plastic above the gold pin things) a while ago.

now i was wondering if it is possible to maybe get it fixed or a new connector fitted.

or most hopefully, would seagate replace it under warranty? i checked on their site and its still under warranty for a year. But would they give me a new one for this ?

Just out of interest, how did it break??

i have fixed 5 drives with this type of problem..all involved a taking the sata power and data cable, some extra plastic to act as a brace and hotgluing them until it becomes one large connector. then fit the large connector to the drive and add more hot glue.

see if you can use a sata data cable that has a secure-sata connector, this has a little metal clip on it, and every little bit helps to keep these things secured.

got a raptor 150 running like that after some numpty broke it and it is still going strong 1yr6months later, although i dont move that machine around much.

well see problem is i broke the plastic and one of the pins... so ya, don't thing that will work

it broke when i pulled out the cable...
