Hi,

On Tuesday Telkom phoned me and told me that my line has been activated. Right so today I went to go pick up the router and everything. So I install everything and get my ISP to give me an ADSL account.

Now the DSL light keeps blinking, then it stops for about 10 seconds. It then starts again, this cycle continues forever and ever. The light never goes solid.

Am I doing something wrong or is their something wrong with the line?

Cheers,

XennoX

I presume you took the self-install option?
In that case, you need to phone telkom ADSL (0800 375 375), and ask them to initialize the line. Tell them the line was installed recently, and you connected the modem, but it's blinking and the guy will initialize it on their side

Cool thanks, I'll give that a shot now! :)

EDIT
------

New problem, I now have everything working, the light is stable and the internet light is on, but the problem is my PC doesn't want to connect to the net, besides me using 3G.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

set your computer's network card's gateway IP to point to the router's IP address. Also obviously make sure the router is connecting to an uncapped active isp account.

New problem. Right so I got my line sorted out and everything on Thursday, and I have been a happy chappy ever since, until now. I get home today (Sunday) at 15h00, and guess what? No internet light is on, but I have a steady DSL light.

Now what have the idiots at Telkom done now?

Enter your acc details again via quickstart and see if it connects..

Log into your router, check the quickstart account settings, see if they correct, press connect. If nothing happens check the router logs, maybe you can't authenticate or the modem is buggered. Re-type your account info, press SAVE SETTINGS, try to connect again. Check the router's SNR & ATTN. values as well ..

Nope nothing, well hopefully a Technician will come tomorrow and fix this mess.

EDIT: I think my router is screwed. The DSL light switches off at times.
