Hi all,

I need help please.

So, I got 2x new UAP-AC-Lite 's yesterday - was given to me.
Previous owner says that there is 'nothing wrong' with the units and I believe him.
However, when I installed them and set them up - they work - adopted etc.
The "light" ring though is not working and I'm not sure if it's something I've done or what not.

By "light" ring, the LED - most are solid green when they are on.

Mine is 'off'

However, if I restart it - the white light flashes - last night I saw that it seems they are on but very dull.

In the controller software, when I goto "settings" and look under "manage" the LED option is ticked.

Am I missing something?

The ac lites are blue not green if I remember right.
If the controller says they're good then I'd say they are OK.

Ok, no stress - I have 3x AP's in my flat - 1 is green (but it is a older model)

the 2x newer ones are on, but very very dull.

You can enable and disable the LED.

There is a global default setting which you likely set to off meaning any newly adopted units would stay off.

But in a home environment you really do want them off as they can be annoying at night.

You can override it at the AP level.

You can also change the brightness on some of them.

The LED on my ac lite is so dim at this point it’s hardly visible, you could just be seeing this same type of deterioration.

Yeah, same thing here.

GF says that last night she was looking up and it was pitch black and she could see a very dull light.

So it's there... now I'm wondering if there not a way of brightening it up.

Those LEDs appear to fade with time. I also have an AP that is very faded.

I read a post somewhere where someone replaced them - looked like a massive schlep (soldering required) tbh.

And then you have the “locate” function anyway.

LED isn’t going to help you diagnose **** that the app can’t tell you anyway.

The led is the only physical indication that the device has power. It also flashes differently depending on its current state.

No, your PoE switch would be an indicator if it has power.

It would also be online in the controller.

It would also be responding to an IP etc.

The LED is pretty useless to do anything with. Having installed hundreds of these units I've literally never used it once.

Beyond the fact it's also invisible in broad daylight at any kind of distance.

Troubleshooting is not a good enough reason to leave the LEDs permanently on. Don’t know about you but they also don’t just spontaneously lose power.
