So i'm considering getting a new console...

Either a PS3 or Xbox. Does'nt really matter to me but i need some info.

Which one of these is easier to mod?

What are the pros and cons of this?

And which place has the best deal for a console only?

Thanx!

xbox for modding is very easy, and any console can pretty much be flashed, very easy for use as compared to the ps3, if you dont want live then any xbox can be jtagged too (*i.e made to run games off a hdd, homebrew apps and all, a dash for this new glitch hack is set to release soon too, on the other hand to mod a ps3 is easy yes, but when you have new games with new fw it is very difficult, and modding the latest ps3 fw is very expensive to...

Thanx for thsoe answers!

So does that mean there is a way to flash/mod the xbox and still be able to play live?

Does the usb thing for PS3 work or is there a better way for the ps3?

hi goofball
yes, if you keep your xbox360 update with the latest softmod you will be able to play online. Note their is still an way to get catched, and support the companies by purchasing.
It would be best if you purchase the kit to softmod yourself for around R500. Then you can keep updating it with the latest lt+ without having to pay someone each time new version is released.

Once you mod it you can never be 100% certain you won't be banned. If you run the latest iXtreme all the time the chances are still but you take the chance.

Always a risk, burn games correct way (ie AbGx) and make sure ssv2 is in place aswell as you don't play games way before release dates ur fine and good to go. C4eva (fw creator) only had his fw detected once awhile back (massive banwave) till then its mostly the users fault for incorrect burning or games or not patching the games, if you buy games from the fleamarket they do generally patch them although recently checking a few friends disc they were not patched so just watch out there

So it sounds like xbox is the way to go for modding a console?

Any thoughts on ps3?

Modding a PS3 isn't really worth it IMO. The mod becomes redundant fairly quickly with all the updates to the system so you're always waiting to play the latest games, the downloads tend to be very large for the games and there is no way that I know of to play online. Personally I wouldn't mod either machine. Online play is where you end up spending 90% of your time and getting a ban is not worth it. Also if you shop around you get most games after the initial rush for very competitive prices both new and second hand.

xbox and cfw has a very good rep, got people on my friends list who have had a flashed box for about 2 years now, so getting a ban is not possible, MS even accidentally banned a friend of mine who had a flashed box (a few weeks ago when there system banned random people) and even unbanned him, thats how dumb there were so yeah xbox defo the way to go, i dont know but ps3 cfw seems like a mission and agreee with MJ INC games are huge, xbox games (XGD2 about 6.2-6.9GB) and (XGD3 - about 7.7GB)

The ps3 CFW is really easy to load and use but it has some limitations.
1) the keys for firmware versions 3.56 and up have not been released so you cant upgrade or buy above 3.55 firmware or you are unable to downgrade(there seems to be some downgrade tools lately but I have not found a reliable source)

2) no online play with CFW

But it works well.

I would say a phat [aka big white arcade xbox 360] that has a benq or lite on. They are quite easy to flash and requires no aditional hardware.

The 83850c v1 lite on drive its like you plug it to you computer with the sata port and flash and update it. Quite easy. I do the updates in like 10min. So xbox 360 is easy if you have those models. It becomes more difficult if you have other models where soldering is needed.

anybody have a link where i can read more about this Xbox cfw thing?

goofball try like xboxscene, forums of teamxecuter places like that
