Flight Simulator 2020

I was signed up for the alpha but didnt get my windows build finished in time to be invited (also on mac)

Had a pretty sweet X-Plane setup a few years back when I was trying to do my PPL, cessna yoke, throttle controls, and pedals. Aviation medical stopped it all lol
Mind me asking why stopped?

Was looking at this more today and watched the Digital Foundry preview.

Just note, if you want to take off from South Africa, you'll need to buy the Deluxe version or higher to get Cape Town International. Part of the appeal of the whole thing is the real time satellite and flight data to see actual flights IRL in progress and so on, so that might be important for us in SA.

You can try it out for a month for only R15.70 on Game Pass. That's what I plan to do.
There is a way to get Gamepass for cheap. You buy a 1 year (up to 3 years max for even better value) Live Gold subscription (R685) and then upgrade it to game pass ultimate for R16.

I've been playing FS since I was a kid. Got my first Flight Sim in 2002.
Hoping to do my PPL in the next few years. Love aviation.

I'm honestly contemplating building a gaming PC just for this. It's coincidentally launches on my birthday, 18 August, so might just treat myself.

Anyone excited for the new FS2020 coming out next month?

Yeah man, cant wait.

Played X-Plane, FSX, Prepar3D.

This is going to cost R1800 - R2000 at least for the top end one with all the planes.

Watching people's videos on FB telling everyone how even a 2080Ti struggles on ultra settings...

Maybe I'll just wait for the Xbox version and hope it still looks as good...

Are you guys going to buy it from the Microsoft store or steam?

On Youtube the one guy showed how the Sim consumed like 80gb data and he only played for like a week.... I guess I better get Fibre first, cause there goes my monthly LTE cap. :cautious:

Super Excited, got a "pre-alpha" email on monday from them, its amazing. Im just looking for a USB flight yoke setup now

my opinion on joystick:
must have rumble effect (force feedback)
must have hat switch
must have twist

and the bottom of the range isnt expensive at all

Even this one ( i have it) you more on the keyboard / mouse than anything else

Was taking medication that prevented me from getting my medical, got discouraged from flying in general and sim.

Keen to look at sim again
If you have the means to do so, go for it. One only lives once, no use to wait climbing that mountain till you are 87, then the mountain will climb you

At 4k Ultra settings you won't get 60fps but do you really need 60fps for a flightsim? You can drop down to high settings which does not look much different.

The game looks great on a gtx1060 1080p high at 40+fps. Even at medium settings it looks better than most games and comes close to 60fps.
