Flight Simulator 2020

I see they list 64Gb RAM as the ideal spec on PC. That’s crazy, they really are leaning into streaming as much as possible to minimize storage taken.

Looks like I will need to win the Lotto to be able to afford a PC Gaming Rig capable of running FS2024 efficiently - so, until then, it's back to dusting off my ancient Intel Core2 Duo 2.0GHz PC with 4GB RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce 210 1GB video card & a 160GB IDE drive, running Windows XP & MSFS 2004, if I want to do any virtual flying... ;)

You should see the built in marketplace for community created aircraft and scenery assets. :crying:

Can’t get myself to pay R600 for a F22 when I know Lockheed and the military kept most of the plane’s functions secret.
I've seen DCS lol, I know. :)

But yeah I know. I got some scenery for CT on 2020, and the Antonov, but some of those planes are yoooooo. Wrt 2024 I'm looking forward to the missions like cargo etc. Dunno why carting boxes around in virtual is so much more fun than IRL. Oh, maybe because I'll be flying lol, not driving.

So far so good.
Cape Town looks great. A big improvement over 2020. Especially Table Mountain. No longer looks like a soft hill.
My only complaint is a tad too many trees.

Playing on High GFX settings and it seems like the biggest bottleneck is 8GB VRAM (3060TI). Getting steady 30FPS (smooth enough for FS) in Cape Town but will probably need to drop to medium in big and detailed cities.

I didn't like what I saw of the trees either. The main issue though I think is the tree scaling..
So many trees are taller than the buildings they're around in the CBD, which is why I reckon they're so noticeable, appearing like there are too many.

But the trees / scenery out in the bush looks incredibly realistic.

Also amazing lighting/cloud effects.

Have they resolved most of the graphics glitches? Last time i tried it would take forever to load and then aircraft would show as cubes or drop onto the apron like it's a bouncy castle.
