Hi everyone. So I'll be flying to Cape Town from Joburg to visit my girlfriend soon and wanted to surprise her with flowers when I land and finally see her again.

However I'm not sure if I should buy the flowers before my flight at the airport or once I've landed. Which is the best idea? I'm also shy about carrying flowers onto the plane and throughout that journey.

Buy the flowers before you the flight. Dont worry about what people think, anyway, most of the ladies will be in envy.

I have purchased a big bunch of Proteas for my mom at the flower market in Adderley Street in Cape Town and flown back with it on Kulula without any problems. This was a couple of years ago, so I do not know whether this has changed.

shouldn't be an issue and screw what people think

You should buy in Cape Town rather, But that is just my sinuses and hayfever talking. If you were to sit next to me for 2 hours with a bunch of flowers you will be sticky and eeeuuuwww. after the flight.
Cape town's flower market is gorgeous. Even better than bringing her flowers, take her there to pick a few of her own. Such a variety there.

I'd suggest a snake or two.

I hope everyone on that flight visually shows their hatred of you.

Buy it when you land so you don't piss everyone else off.

Or get an actually useful gift instead.

shoudnt be an issue, its not like we like in a terrorist hot-spot

not like the TSA will pull it apart looking for a bomb, we buddies with the Iranians FFS.

It will only be an issue if a person sitting near you has allergies. And this can play out in several ways

1. They move you
2. They move said person
3. They store the flowers for you

It will **** up everyone with allergies on the entire plane.

That aircon recycles a lot more than people think.

I still cannot understand why flowers are a logical gift idea. More so when it comes from companies for special occasions and they spend hundreds. Buy the gift basket of snacks please, not this utterly useless and allergy driven ***.
