Anyone know how to disable marketing messages on the FNB app? I only want notifications for transactions.

Wow. For me that would be sufficient grounds to change banks (if it can't be turned off).

+1. My bank is for banking, not Christmas specials on things I don't want.

Are you talking about push messages or sms type messages? Under your apps settings there should be a toggle to disable push messages.

Spoke too soon! I am with you OP, it's annoying af.

What are they selling?

Keep in mind many of us opted to received marketing to score eBucks points, incl me.

Just promoting their holiday deals.

Yes we opted in for marketing, so I don't mind the e-mails and sms's, but the app?

App notifications would be wrong imo. No problem with a message when I log in.

Just a follow up on this as I couldn't find a way to do this so I tweeted FNB and was told I needed to use secure chat to do this.

Busy now with the chat, apparently you get extra points having this enabled but I really don't care - a bank shouldn't be trying to sell stuff to me the whole time.

Are you sure that you haven't opted in for marketing messages through your online banking settings? (Some people do this for the eBucks points)...

I've also just Tweeted them - I am sick of it too.

Just use the secure chat in the app.

You possibly lose eBucks based on this:

Update your contact details at least once in a 12-month period via Online Banking
and
allow FNB to communicate with you by giving them consent to market to you
and
choose to receive all your statements via email only
1 000

There doesn't appear to be any way to disable this from within your online banking profile. I'm sure if there was I would have been told to do this instead of using secure chat.

Please give this a try: Change this on the App by selecting the three menu lines (top left) > Messages > Settings > Geo Alert Settings > Disable Geo Alerts.

Bump. Has anyone figured out how to do this? Every bloody day there is a marketing notification that comes through. I am on iOS though.

No. FNB says because I disabled it I can't be getting any marketing messages. I send them proof and they still say it's impossible but they'll look into it. A few days later I get told the same thing.
I've been thinking of changing banks but I'm too lazy.
