FNB Bank Charges

I have the following:

1 x Platinum Credit Card/Account
1 x Platinum Cheque Card/Account
1 x Petrol card, hardly used
1 x Savings Pocket

No other value added services, loans, homeloans etc... except an overdraft facility which I haven't used and ebucks.

My bank charges a month add up to R228-00. And that is excluding an annual R200-00 ebucks fee on my credit card. Seems a bit high no?

Before I dig into this with the bank, maybe I just missed some fine print somewhere - Does these figures sound right with FNB and do others have the same? Pretty sure when I joined them some time ago it was for less bank charges than ABSA.

Another thing is I'm always on level 1 for ebucks on both cards/accounts :( sheesh. And the overdraft was supposed to boost that to my knowledge.

- Get rid of the petrol card, it's useless these days apart from maybe being able to use it at tollgates.
- Downgrade both accounts to Gold if you don't need the slow lounge access and premium banking. From October, it will be easier to get to a higher eBucks reward level on Gold too.

Remember from october your total fees is going to be R200 for plat cheque and cc(total) , and they removing the ebucks linkage fee.

Standard bank and absa charges R20 a month for there reward program.

The fees is correct that you are paying , to have platinum cards it does cost extra :p

Get your petrol card canceled , no need for it , garages accept credit cards and cheque cards.

Can one do that? Isn't it based on your income?
I would consider this.

That usually applies to upgrades, as in upgrading to platinum means meeting a minimum income level. I've downgraded to Gold without any issues...

Pretty sure I was duped :/ They explained on the phone that upgrading to Plat (I was on gold and not even sure I fell into the Platinum bracket) wouldn't result in extra fees. Else I wouldn't have accepted. I am trying to remember from way back when but logically I wouldn't have gone for added fees and no benefits to me :/

Thanks for replies so far :)

Thats exactly what I did, downgraded to gold. They increasing fees but cutting back on services offered. RB Jacobs makes me feel like I am a premium banker anyways. I use my cheque card at toll gates. e-tolls I am not paying:D

Hi, I have the petrol card, and just because it 1) gives me access to the "drive me home service" and 2) an AA membership. And I pay a flat monthly fee for everything. So it doesnt cost me any more or less to have the cards. The only thing is i have an extra card in my wallet.

Yea the drive me home service is new, if you need that kind of thing...but the AA you can get cheaper by just adding it to your cheque account.

I asked to have the Roadside Assistance added to my Cheque Account so that I could cancel the Petrol card and was told they were doing away with it.

This was an online query to a Premier Banker about a month ago.
