FNB Black Friday outage

Funnily enough Apple Pay worked fine online, but Amazon where I have a direct Virtual Card kakked itself and I thought maybe it's some CVV fail which is why I went to the app to confirm only to find the entire thing dead.

Mine was Samsung pay that had issues

Wrong day to have these issues, and it's not that it's Black Friday, but that it is the 28th..

I had the audacity to sent our business banker an email 2 weeks ago about reminding their IT team to be jacked up, and not have a repeat of last year. Crickets.

So I informed our entire organisation, that payments they wanted done in November had to in by Wednesday, latest Thursday lunch time.
Post dated Friday's month end payments, so I don't have to stress today.

My Black Friday Special was not phoning our business banker .

And of course all the fails went through this morning exactly the opposite of what these ***** says would happen and how they would fix it.

And you can’t dispute them either as they don’t show up in their screen so now I have to log queried on the Secure Chat kak which is presumably overloaded by other people.

Can’t imagine people who don’t have an overdraft facility and end up with a minus balance the day all the debit orders go off.

Ah most of the Black Friday specials were rubbish. Only Nedbank had a 55" UHD TV for R4k, PS5 for 6K, Samsung S24 Ultra for R8k, Mac Mini M4 for R6k, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro for R1500 and so on.

Amazon and Takealot hardly had anything worthwhile

Checkers was the best out of the Food Stores with sales.

Cant blame Digital because Worst National Bank sucked. Everyone else worked well. As for PnP, well there is no benefits at them for anyone but FNB members, so looked like they may be the biggest complainers.


Digital payments worked well, tried it in China during Golden Week, which makes black Friday look like a trip to the Cafe, and in China it just works well even in small towns. Wechat pay works everywhere, cash is not really accepted and foreign cards only in some cities but also not much.
