long story short : I swiped my CC at a Spar on 31 July, transaction was declined twice, but the money was deducted from my account. Minutes before that I also tried to withdraw cash from an FNB atm with my CC, but that also failed with some generic error, and on top of that my monthly Afrihost payment which also goes from my CC, also failed.

Spar says their CC dept, which is Nedbank, cannot see anything wrong. They see the amounts for the actual items I purchased, but not the amount for the extra cash I also requested.

FNB says the call is being escalated, but it's been stuck like that for a week now, so it's in limbo.

What else can I do to escalate this ? It amounts to about R960 that I lost, and although it's not a fortune, I'd like to not write it off.

Make more noise, and visit a branch and get a branch manager to start calling / hassling for you.
Also post on Facebook in the FNB page, as that often gets far faster results.

A similar question.

I opened an FNB Gold Account on Monday.
I logged onto the ebucks website yesterday and the welcome screen has my name as

"Good Afternoon [name] [first letter of middle name]".

Should it not be my name and maybe first letter of my surname?

You're going about this the wrong way.
Email FNB the declined slips - they will reverse said funds.

Not sure about the rest thou

Don't have the slips anymore :\

Yeah, stupid I know. Force of habit, I always chuck my slips as I walk out of the shop.

Thanks, will try that.
