FNB customers charged double

Wonder how susceptible our pay point devices are to malware?

If the excrement can strike the fan in the USA, it surely can over here as well?

FNB’s online representative Rbjacobs told customers complaining on Twitter that the refunded amounts should reflect no later than the 20th of October 2014.

I'm surprised RB Jacobs is still employed at FNB after this remark back in April.

... Unless of course RB Jacobs is a fictitious person like "Steve". :D

I was affected. Still waiting for the reverse.

It's a week before payday, I'm sure a lot of people, affected, feel the pinch.

A mistake like this can really f*** up your budget. Especially if you made a large purchase.

I am a big fan of FNB but their card processing is terrible.

I was travelling to Brazil and somehow my FNB Credit Card worked about 30% of the time, my FNB Cheque Card and my Virgin Money Card worked just about all the time. FNB denied there is a problem on their side. Often in SA at parking meters my FNB Credit Card would get rejected, but my FNB Cheque Card works fine. And no- it still happened after physically replacing the card.

Transactions are also taking forever to appear on online banking (even though the incontact sms comes through immediately).

So yes - I think FNB should look at their card processing infrastructure and communications.

And you are a Big Fan of FNB????

Well - yes. It is an inconvenience, but it hardly stops me from getting things done. My transactions will (eventually) update on the web, and I am not travelling to Brazil anymore so my Credit Card issue only bothers me when I try to pay for parking (which I do with my Cheque Card immediately these days without bothering with my credit card).

What can I say -- ebucks/SLOW Lounge/best rate on home loan/GEO Payments etc. does out-weight the inconvenience of their crappy card processing. For now.

you do realise transactions dont take forever to appear on online banking right? If you check the detail tab on the CC, it shows there are funds reserved for the purchases you made, and only when they actually clear, that is then when they appear as actual transactions. What FNB can probably do better, is show the transactions in a different tab that is reserved, but haven't cleared yet, but still, that is not a big train smash.

At least FNB doesn't discriminate. They give all their customers crap service. :D

I'm not in a pinch. Maybe I should have said, "other" people.

Anyway, charges has been reversed on my account last night.

Serious question: I was thinking of switching from Standard Bank to FNB's Gold Account.

Worth the switch or am I better off sticking with Standard Bank?

I am sticking with Standard Bank.

They have been good to me for all these years, and FNB's track record is not remotely close to SB.
