Can somebody point me in the right direction.

I have a smart device with FNB. Does FNB have month to month data packages?
If yes, can one sign up as a standalone option

If yes to both questions, where exactly do you sign up for this?

Get a prepaid sim from FNB connect and fill it with as much data as you want. I assume that what you are after?
