So I want to do something on the FNB website but it says I need to do it from a verified browser (I am using the same browser on same machine I have been using all these years). OK, so it says I need to verify my browser from my device, so login there, turns out my device where I have had the app installed for years is not verified either, I cannot verify it with QR code or Geolocation as that all seemingly requires a verified device nearby (there is no such device).

So how the hell do I verify my device or browser?

Had the same issue. You need to make a eft payment with the app I think of more than R300. Wait 7 days and it should then be verified.

Verification on browsers is based on ip so if yours changes regularly your browser will never be verified. They have the most over the top security restrictions.

Pffft!!! I'll find some other way to do what I have to then (I already did), their loss.

Luckily only really use this account for the card on which I load my monthly sundries tap&go/swipe spend.

I'm assuming you hardly ever use the account? That's why it's asking for verification.

I use the card daily to pay for stuff. Not to worry though, now I know their security is too eager and won't try to use them for other stuff.

Then you probably don't use the app on the device often?

I've only ever had this issue when I got a new phone or flashed a new ROM.

They should use hardware ids instead. ips are shared so if they work on that principle their system is probably open for abuse. Imagine you get assigned an IP for someone who's login details you have. Game over.

Well,it's not "just" IP obviously
My browser is verified be it from SA or VPN IPs
Device much the same
Infrequent use and rapid-changes I might think to need re-verifying

This is driving me flippen insane. I can basically render my laptop useless when it comes to FNB.

No matter what I do, I cannot use FNB Online Banking on my PC.

I've even gone as far as to write down my IP address. No change in the last 3 weeks. Every single time I make a payment it gets rejected.

I then go ahead and make a payment of just over R200. Wait 7 days, try again and then the Browser is still unverified and resets the date to wait another 7 days.

Then some scammer comes along and "hacks" your banking account with his browser by logging in to the same account. Lol how can we make banking kak for you.

Ps maybe a cookie problem what browser are you using?

I have the same problem. Very rarely use my FNB account, now getting SMS messages that I need to install the app and verify my info before 22 Jan 2022 to keep transacting. I never used the app. When I log into internet banking on my PC the browser is not verified. It doesn't give any option to verify browser.

Looks like I'll have to try looking into getting the app installed, but I'm guessing it will be a mission since I don't even have a card linked to the account.

Okay, I have no idea whatsoever on how to get the browser verified.

Downloaded the app and linked it. App is also unverified, but according to RBJacobs you need to transact to an amount of R301+ and after 7 days it will be verified. I asked whether inter-account transfers would qualify and they said yes. So I'm moving funds between my Savings pocket and account and seeing if that does anything.

This has to be the most cumbersome system ever. Can't even go to a branch since the nearest one is 250km away.
