FNB immediate payment?

I have it as well. I also see it when using the FNB banking app.

@spikegv, @Mike Hoxbig, @Tacet, @PostmanPot if you tell me what kind of account you have (if you don't mind) I might be able to work out why and it might help when I take it up with FNB.

@GPSJane: Have you tried clearing cache + refreshing by pressing Ctrl + F5 while logged in on FNB's? Could help. Have you tried from different, updated web browsers? Like Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer? Have you tried from a different PC?

All latest browsers, various browsers, various OS, newly installed machine etc. It is definitely the site. I doubt you access their site from the cache anyway considering the security - you can't even save your password.

I have a gold cheque account too so if at least one of you have one then it should work. So far FNB have not impressed us at all.

Have you contacted them and what do they say?

Also had that option years ago. R50 sounds a bit steep, last I checked it was R35 or so. I seem to remember it only showed up when the person you were paying was either ABSA or Standard Bank or something like that, but maybe now all the banks have it. Also FNB to FNB transfers are generally pretty much instant anyway so it won't show up then.

I haven't yet - the emergency is over and this is actually a mission. Just another reason to be very annoyed with FNB.

R50 is steep. Absa charge R30.

The app is nicely done but it is missing most of the functionality that I use. The only reason for me to use it is when I am somewhere away from a computer and need to pay something on the spot but I can't add a beneficiary. It is the only banking app so kudos to FNB for getting there first.

LOL, you won't even let them sort you problem but you saying you're staying annoyed with them... bankings gonna get real expensive (and intrusive) if they have to create telepaths to read our minds. And there is no R50, its R30 just like ABSA.

When did I say I won't let them sort my problem out? On the other hand why should I have to deal with a problem when they say they are going to move all my debit orders - I even got confirmation online that this had been done? Surely it should have been done. Oh and we have called to ask what the heck is going on. All we get is a repetitive answer from some idiot who has no intention of ever fixing the problem; "The only thing I can do is send you a form and have your debit orders moved". Not only do I no longer trust FNB to do this but my main problem is the fact that I did it and it was clearly never received on their end!

It may cost R30 for express clearing but I wouldn't know because I don't have that option; I was going on what everyone else said here - if it was R50 then it is too expensive. If it is R30 then at least it is in line with other banks. I will call and ask FNB to fix this but right now I actually have the rest of my life to live and I should not be running around after FNB telling them what is wrong with their systems. Every single thing that I have tried to do has gone wrong the first time and has involved me calling FNB and spending entire days sorting out - and I mean every single thing.

Dysfunctional

I was trying to do an urgent payment with immediate clearance last week, but after receiving the screen confirming that the payment was being processed, all traces of the payment just disappeared.

I called the call centre several times to try and get some information on what was happening, but they were clueless. And when I lodged a complaint, the answer I got was that they are experiencing intermittent problems with the service, but couldn't give me any specific information.

So, not only did the failure cost me loss of revenue, I also wasted hours dealing with argumentative and uninformed call center staff and all I've got left to show for it is a bad taste in my mouth.

ABSA's online banking at least works...

Did you find ou why it isn't showing up? I'm on a student account and I even get the option? Very odd! But for me fnb rocks! Unlucky that you have so far had a bad experience, hopefully once ur settled everything will be fine!

Afaik pay and clear now is not available to all banks (read nedbank) and it only works during business hours.
