FNB issues running on a bootloader unlocked device.

On a stock Rom? Does Adguard not only work for the Stock samsung browser and not for Chrome?

DIdn't know revanced ran on stock to be honest
will take care of all ads in browser and in app

for youtube you can click "share" and play using the adguard player ad free

but if you dont feel for all that, theres revanced - run, patch, delete the old app and use the patched one

adguard and revanced

If you read above you will see Magisk was mentioned as not working for this.

Apparently nothing can prevent detection of unlocked bootloader. Hiding root is not an issue, but it doesn't help in this instance.

It looks like only an old version of the app can get around this for now.

I use Adguard DNS on my Samsung, and Chrome browser.

So my use case for unlocking my bootloader is simple. I want 5G and VoLTE on my pixel 8. Otherwise I would have left it locked.

So the previous version that worked was 7.8.0-50. Look for it on APK mirror or similar site.

I have been putting off upgrading to 7.9.anything, cause they just didn't work.

I saw yesterday they uploaded another version and took a chance. Looks like it is working again. I'm now running 7.10.1-53, no problem.

Would like to think there was enough people moaning about it on the reviews.

Looks like FNB cracked down again yesterday 🧟‍♀️
Mine is still fine. I added a few modules to Magisk and it was fine after that. Doesn't look like it is bootloader related, just rooting.

Are Android users even real people? What is this thread :D

These requirements are enforced on the device because of security.
To run banking apps on a phone that will be approved by the issuers, there are specific requirements for security on the phone.
These requirements are documented and there is a requirement for the banking application to run security checks.
If you want to moan about this, rather take your complaint to EMVCo

So, the most secure phone/operating system in the business world right now is the Google Pixel 8 / 9 running GrapheneOS.
The FNB app no longer works on it.

So they're basically just approving "standard Samsung and Apple phones" and calling it a day here. Not truly enforcing "strict security protocols".

Are you rooted? With what? What have you tried already?

Nope, stock standard GrapheneOS with Google Play services on a Pixel8.
The app won't update, as Google Play reckons the device is not supported by the app.

They did get sticky about the versions of phones that they support recently.
I got hold of someone that had access to the devs, and they eventually tried to add support.

Is it just not available in the play store for you?
Mine just crashed every time I started it until I figured it out.

Yep, Google Play store doesn't show the app to download anymore, and the installed app comes up with a popup saying you have to Update to continue using it.
When you tap on there, it takes you to the FNB app on the app store - with options to Uninstall and Open, and an alert that this app cannot be installed on this device.

Working again this morning on GrapheneOS
weird FNB is so sticky on it,
when I still had my S9 with CRdroid official on 14 FNB worked with Magisk stable latest,

what didnt work strangely enough was Google wallet, or more precisely it worked briefly and then stopped,
and then a patch would come out, where it would work briefly and then stop again,

FNB was always on Magisk block list, never had a day problem with it, even the fingerprint sensor worked perfectly.
