FNB Network down???

14:20 same error on our Corporate Account.Private ccount logon works.
I see what you mean. I am also able to logon to my personal account. The problem is that I need urgent access to our corporate accounts.

Still a stuff up - has now affected their ability to process cards.

Just went to purchase some routers and when paying via FNB debit card, I got the SMS to say the funds had left my account - yet the supplier's card machine came up with Timeout error.

They printed a transaction list and also shows no transaction processed. So supplier did it again and once again I received SMS to say processed and supplier timed out with error.

After 10 minutes on phone banking to get the half baked transactions reversed - had to drive to nearest branch to withdraw actual paper money

So 1 hour wasted time, fuel to drive to nearest branch, about a R20 phone call getting stuff reversed, cash withdrawal fees....

FNB offline, back online
Online banking customers in dark since Sunday.
Since Sunday FNB online banking customers have not been able to access their accounts. Thousands of businesses were affected. How many exactly FNB could not tell us.

One frustrated customer said he has not been able to pay suppliers and staff. FNB informs us the problem has been fixed and full access is now available.

In a statement from spokesperson, Lee-Anne van Zyl, CEO, FNB Online Banking it was revealed that the problem was due "to a system upgrade of the bank's online banking services on 4 October, the underlying operating system generated excessive internal processing functions. These internal processes resulted in limited customer access to online banking services on Monday 5 October".

Our informant said the site was not available.

Van Zyl's statement went on to say "the bank restored further access to its online banking system during the morning of Tuesday 6 October. As an interim measure the number of customer using the site at any one time is being moderated to ensure systems stability".

Our informant confirmed there has been limited access today. Others have told us there is still no access.

Happy to advise that FNB Online Banking is now available and that our customers have full logon capability. FNB apologises sincerely to all customers who have been inconvenienced by these unforeseen problems....http://bit.ly/2VJBWz

Why does that URL not have the word 'FNB' in it ? I thought the url for the website was http://www.fnb.co.za

If you truly work for FNB you would know that online banking clients are advised to log into internet banking by typing the FNB URL into their browser address box and they are advised to never click on url's supplied in emails or other internet communication services (e.g. chatrooms or forums).

I have tried three times to logon in the last 20 minutes and I still get the same error message. Error 90909.
I sure as hell hope that the site you went to is the real FNB site. Otherwise you've just given your login details to a phishing site. I strongly suggest that you go to the real FNB site and change your password just to be safe.

my debit card was declined twice yesterday even though there was money in my account! had to go to the nearest atm which was absa to draw money and so had to pay a R10 exstra fee for non fnb bank charges!

I am happy to announce that I used my debit card today at a grocery store at 18:15 no problems. They use a Nedbank machine.I have finally managed to log on to our Corporate Accounts.FNB problems possibly fixed i.e until tomorrow when all Corporates log in together to try and transact all payments that should have been made in the last 2 days.Fnb staff I hope you are on standby. As far as Routine Maintenance is concerned I suggest you fire your IT Department and no Fnb customer with any sense who have been affected by your total incompetence believe this was routine maintenance.

The notice on FNB website was taken down this morning so I assume it's fixed? Looks like someone screwed up big time in the routine maintenance.

I do not believe you are correct.I couldn't log on to our Corporate account until now when I tried at home.Last log on was at 15;45 and Fnb was still down although I could access my own individual account.

The head of online banking was on the radio this afternoon. She mentioned that the downtime was due to new functionality which fell over with heavy load. No mention was made of routine maintenance.

The system is definitely not up yet for corporate accounts. I just phoned FNB (20h00) to find out how much longer they anticipate this will take. After apologising for the inconvenience (this is no inconvenience it is becoming a crisis) they told me they are hoping (!) the system will be up for corporates by tomorrow morning.

I have been an ardent supporter of FNB and recommended them to many friends and family. After this debacle they will have to prove themselves before I commit myself to any further recommendations. I did not dream I would experience this in my lifetime. How can we help you suddenly has a different ring to it...

It did work at the time I posted. It is down agai......................................................................................................n for corporates.Tomorrow will be fun without a doubt.

You must have been extremely lucky. And yes you're right tomorrow is going to be fun and games.

My ABSA credit card got declined when using an FNB terminal at car repair shop. Phoned ABSA and after holding on for 10 mins was told they can't communicate with FNB.

Imagined if the car shop had cut up my card (do they only do that in the movies)?

Had to do EFT from their unsecured PC. If I get cleaned out... eish. Will never go to FNB!

Cutting up a card only happens in the movies.Your ABSA card was in all probability declined as ABSA is now owned by Barclays Bank which pulled out of S.A in the the time of the Apartheid years and which is now Fnb.(previously Barclays)there is no love lost between them (I know this for a fact).

LOL @placebo

But seriously, if I could not have done an EFT from my ABSA account to get my car back, I would not have been a happy person tonight.

Good luck to FNB... They will need it!

Nah ah...

It happened to me.

About 8 years ago I had just arrived in Germany to attend CeBit in Hanover. I went to buy a weekly train ticket - around R500 if I remember correctly - and had to hand my Nedbank card to the lady behind a counter to swipe it. After a couple of minutes she called another person over, and after much back and forth between them, she looked me in the eyes and deliberately picked up a pair of scissors and snipped it in two.

I started shouting wtf do you think you are doing, etc. when two uniformed er, gentlemen, appeared at my side. The one said "zees kart is stollen, ja?"

Anyway, to cut a very long story short, after many phone calls to Nedbank SA (at my expense), they apologised profusely and sent a new card to my hotel two days later. Fortunately I had enough in my AMEX card to pay, or else who knows what I would have done for two days.

Moral of the story : Always have more than one card.

ho hum
down again
went in to transfer funds after midnight to standard cause i cant work like this and what a surprise:

12:30 Update -Online Banking is currently unavailable. Our technicians are in the process or restoring the system.

what I did see earlier were quite a few declined authorisation charges while they were down - hmmmm, take what, say at a low estimate 1,000,000 clients, at say at least 3 x declined each at R5 a pop, a nice little side income FNB are arranging for themselves - that is one way they are going to pay for all the apologising ads we are going to see shortly.......yeh well going to fight each and every charge you $%%$^$5:mad:.

What a day

Shooo! must be tiring to keep on logging in on a site now and again
