So i just wen to an FNB ATM to draw some cash. I spat out a note saying cannot find account. So i went to a checkers near by and tried to draw from teller and got a declined message.

I then saw a number of people waiting for card payments to clear obviously fnb.

I then drove to another atm and similar issue. I called premier banking and they confirmed FNB is offline.

My gripe is, shouldn't FNB have a System offline indicator similar to ISP's on their banking app. Or do the courtesy of sending some sort of message out to users not to try make any card payments and suffer the embarrassment of being stuck at a till.

I know it would have saved me a half hour of driving around during work hours and the petrol spent driving around.

What the F FNB?

WTF? Even online banking:

Due to system maintenance, certain functionality is currently unavailable.

Cant get balances, do transfers/payments, nothing.

Companies that normally pay on 27th are also doing the transfers today, so system overloaded again.

Somebody deployed something to production that they shouldn't have!

Only if you withdraw less then R100 (which probably no one ever do) then it gets expensive pretty fast.

Either way, withdrawal fees won't matter if the bank is offline.
Won't be able to withdraw anywhere.

FNB customers do not need to withdraw from other ATMs because they actually have their own.
Yup... reduced size hoping that you don't see this. Not really in the mood for another Capitec VS FNB debate.

FNB customers generally don't use cash at all is the answer you were actually looking for. :)

But in fairness they really do seem to have some reliability issues of late.

Yeah this is probably the first time in 2 months i had to draw cash. Buying food from someone at work and they don't want to go the EFT route. ****cough***must be a capitec banker****Cough ... shew sorry August winds

Yeah suclks had to dig in my wallet to find change to pay for my sandwhich, then got to work and cant do any payments.

I simply sms, I would have made another plan.

Could withdraw from my FNB account using a STD Bank ATM? What gives?

** That's because it's back online.

Capitec is rarely offline and it would've saved him driving around looking for FNB ATM's.

Ah ok, so Capitec would then be able to open an account for him, have all his money transferred from FNB to capitec so that he can then use their ATM's within.. what... 10 minutes? How? Because if FNB is down... how would he be able to switch to Capitec to use them so quickly?

Anyway, sarcasm aside, is FNB still off for anyone else? I'm about to go buy braai stuff for this weekend.

I agree with OP, I assume most of the FNB clients have the app installed on their phone.

Surely you can push a msg to the phones saying that the system is offline ??
