FNB Online banking frustrate users

Very interesting statement"I cant surf the web all day.I do work".However you had time to register on My Broadband today, posted a post which you deleted, reposted a post.Yes we all started with one post but perhaps some of us did not register with My Broadband in order to attack another user.

True, thats why i tried to delete the post. Didnt want my first post to be nasty or anything. But it some how stayed on.

Maybe I started on the wrong foot here. Dont want to attack existing users. Just here to contribute.

So, sorry if I come across as a bit of an idiot. It wont happen again.

haha, it only needs to happen once

I don't understand why they did not simply roll back when they saw there was a problem. Maybe I am missing something, but they surely had things in place to ensure they could just use the old system again and work on the new system 'offline'?

I have been wondering about that myself - but I suspect it might not be a single "system" but that different parts of the infrastructure was changed in lock-step.

I very much doubt whether the transaction processing sub-systems are overloaded, and web front-end performance issues are readily resolved.

My best guess is that they have trouble fixing the problem because they have trouble finding the source of the problem. I would guess it distributed problem such as Data replication/mirroring or System interface routing. These issues are notoriously hard because they very often only exhibit themselves under heavy loads and sometimes only under heavy loads of a particular nature(so stress testing has trouble picking it up). And of course these problems is almost impossible to replicate.

For these type of problems a roll-back might not even fix the problem.

But then again I might be wrong.

On a different node - I suspect that all the banks are upping their transaction processing systems for the world cup - because of the large amount of electronic transactions expected.

One large bank I know has a "World Cup" code freeze, not allowing any regular changes to go into core systems during the World Cup.
