My DBXWD investment is down almost 3% :-(

Let's say hypothetically the Rand devalues rapidly (I'm talking hundreds of Rands to the dollar). Would shares in trackers like DBXWD and DBXUS withstand that? (i.e. be worth the same value then as it is now). If so, then that seems like the easiest way to hedge without moving cash offshore, correct?

How long have you had it?
How long have you had it?
Not long, maybe three months.
Not long, maybe three months.
So going by the OP I've had this account since about May 2013. Almost 3 years of a few lump sums and a small debit order going off (only a debit order over the last year) and in total - I'm down 2%
So I'm really hoping I either break even or have some profit come end Feb because I'm definitely pulling some of that cash out and filling my 2016 TFSA with R30k worth of DBXWD or something offshore (useless to buy DBXWD at the current price anyway).

As mentioned I'm transferring out as soon as it's legislatively allowed in March 2016. cancelling the debit order this month.
You took the Share Saver as your TFSA? :wtf:
Yeah, better to be a bit more aggressive in your TFSA
I took TFSA with FNB and EE.. on EE side i managed to get +/-18%. I cancelled the debit order with FNB and now just waiting for legislation which allows transfer. But yah it was interesting to see how it played out
Waiting for them to allow transferring my TFSA as well. The EE interface is getting to me and ABSA's is looking better and better all the time(silly reason, but a reason nonetheless)
The things i hate about the EE interface are:
1. Security/Password only.. yes i know only your bank account is linked but then bank accounts can be compromised and i'd rather have improved security on the platform added.. i.e. some form of 2 factor, even if just Google Authenticator code. Please.
2. The big ass UI which shows profit/loss.. like really? Not cool for opening this at work
3. No mobile app.. why??
4. Extra functionality.. I'd like to see graphs etc so overtime i can see how market has reacted vs investment etc and comparing potential & future buys?
I use 22Seven to see the graphs btw
Does anyone have any idea of whether there is any possibility for RMBMID & RMBT40 to recover?
The performance is dismal.
