They seem a little more expensive than they were initially :/

I got my iPad 2 at R200.00pm x 24 = R4,800.00 (sold for R5,600) and separate data at R100.00 for 1GB. All in all I was paying R300.00pm for a new (at the time) tablet with 1GB data.

But looking through the prices now, they have the S4 at R350.00 (no data etc) where VC have it on prepaid R8,150.00. Their contracts aren't actually that much more expensive than the phone through FNB.

Seems they're not really the way to go anymore and the cell networks are the better options :/

There have been so many new data specials coming out of nowhere (thinking AfriHost) that I'm so glad I'm not in Vodacon's clutches.

You can R50 discount now spending on your CC , which makes up for it.

Remember you get the discount for R1500 spend not going R1500 into dept( r1500 spend on gold CC , it is more for platinum) , my CC is always in the green and i get the R50 discount.

So i pay R250 a month for s4 , as i got it when it was R300 a month.

Yeah, I've been considering getting a little something from FNB for a while now (got the iPad 2 when it was first released) but nothing really makes sense, the savings aren't that dramatic anymore.

The expectation here is wrong.

It's not about dramatic savings on the device cost, it's about the fact that you pay cost price for a device over an installment period. Not something you could do with Vodacom or somewhere else. It benefits those that do not have R8k+ cash to spend on the device, but still want one.

But initially it was about that - 15% cheaper AND no interest over the term.

Whereas the S4 I quote is MORE than retail.

That is normal business practice when launching an offer... But two years in, it is still an attractive package. The currency fluctuations don't help matters either.

I'm not sure where you have the S4 as R350 though? It's listed at R319 on the site? Works out to R7656 over the two years. Not many places offer it for less, and most offer it for more.

I actually thought I saw 348.00 on the site before posting ... hmmmm

Also bear in mind that if you are currently on the Fee Saver option and pay no Bank charges due to keeping R9000 in the account, once you take the device with FNB, you will be moved to the Mobile Pricing Option, which costs R100 per month, even though you still keep R9000 in your account.

So, for some, that is an additional R100 monthly to add to the cost of the device.

Do you have a link to the details of those discounts, please?

I can't find them on the new site

i cant seem to find the link also :(

it is R1500 spend for gold , 5000 for platinum .
