I have a Samsung s21 Ultra & bank with FNB.I cant use the TaptoPay function as it says its already been registered by another user. Can anyone help or has anyone else experienced this? Their support has been super unhelpful.

What is this "it" you refer to?

Edit: the process is simple. Create a new VCC and activate it for tap to pay. Turn on NFC on the phone and tap when you want to pay. I generally turn off NFC when not m making a payment (for security). It's such enough to turn it on, tap the phone, and turn it back off when needed.

"It" is the message I see on the screen where I would usually select the account for Tap to Pay. I've attached a screenshot

Any reason why you're not using Google Wallet?

I should add I'm a Standard Bank customer, but I just find Wallet much easier and more straight forward to activate and use.

That brings me to another advantage of using Wallet. Tap to Pay gets disabled the moment the phone locks.

To use it you first have to unlock the phone - you don't have to have the app open though.

Same with FNB app. Only works with phone unlocked & also don't need to open the app. Just unlock phone & tap.

Use Samsung pay, will solve all your problems...

You can try to de-link your phone (my profile - settings - my device + browsers).
De-link all devices except your current device and try to register the card under tap to pay.
If this still doesn't work, you can de-link your current device as well and start the linking process from scratch - this worked for me.

There is no option to deactivate the card. I'm trying to use my virtual card to pay so that I can earn more eBucks. I've tried delinking the device multiple times and it didn't work. FNB and it's many hoops you need to jump through for rewards.

FNB tap to pay on the FNB app is broken permanently these days.
I tried to register mine the other day, told me the system is offline,

use Google wallet, or you can try the Engen 1 app, and link your virtual card to that.
So using google wallet or the engen app, will that still give you the ebucks? (R4 back per litre). I was so pissed off today, tap to pay wasn't working had to use my physical card!

It's a joke right!

think so, I mean you paying with a virtual card, so its got to count?
same like if you ordered an uber or brought something and paid for it with a virtual card.

Virtual cards must get their own range of unique numbers, and FNB system must register that.
so Id imagine so, after all there has to be a backup for those non NFC phones.

It’s not your cards, it’s saying that a previous users cards were registered using that handset, and the other user needs to remove their cards from the service.

Did you buy the phone second hand?

Makes sense.
I've logged a complaint with FNB, waiting feedback. Let's see.

Low and behold guys. FNB just announced their Tap and Pay function will be discontinued. Tap and pay with Google wallet, Samsung Wallet, Fitbit Pay, Garmin Pay, Swatchpay and Apple wallet.
