Correct. Works just like a credit card except you also have an overdraft and usually at a lower interest rate.

Not sure if you get the same fraud protection with a cheque card that you do with a credit card. But I suppose that depends on the issuing bank. Mind you, considering a cheque card doesn't normally require a PIN for non-cash transactions (like a debit card does at POS) maybe it does have.
