Was taking a drive and came along two on a truck at the Ford garage. Since I was across the road, I took a walk over to check them out and speak to the sales guys.

They informed me that they're R479,000.00 - which I find rather excessive! THey're not much quicker than the current S3 (in fact, should be neck on neck till after 100km/h ...) and the Audi is - well - an Audi.

Anyone else think they're a little too expesive in this country ?
 
I think they're more collectors items. So maybe you pay a bit of a premium over the s3/135 because you're not the guy that has a 479k car budget and has to get the best bang for his buck but you're the guy who has a 4mil car budget and you want a frikken lumo green focus rs.
 
Damn can't wait for the days when 497k is in my price range!!! 1st of all congrats Dolby for being in that price range...lol...

Anyhoo...I have one on Xbox Forza 3...it sucks all kinds of ass...revs don't climb fast enough...even on the game there's noticable turbo lag lol...

It looks insane though...did you see the seats?

did the dealership also tell you they're only bringing 60 in and they've all apparently been sold?

A little too fast and furious for my liking though.

THey were still removing from the truck, so the seats had plastic etc on them. I saw the pictures of the seats ...
 
R500k for a Ford Focus?! Lol, no way ill pay that.

Am I the only person that thinks it looks ugly and cheap? Would anyone pay an EXTRA 100k for this over an S3??
As for the ones sold, how many are car buyers and how many dealers?
 
S3 is getting pretty close to that price when u add on the extras
 
For once, I agree with JK8 ...

Which is why I asked the question. Even if the S3 were the same price, it's a much more luxurious car. Granted, not as a collectors car ...

JK8 : Between 50 and 60 cars sold .... not sure of all dealerships, but the two I saw delviered were Paulshof

Certainly too expensive. But all of the 60 that are being brought into the country have already been sold. So there are certainly some people who see the value. It will be somewhat of an icon here, with only 60 being sold. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have one, but for that price, I'll buy a nice BMW.
 
RS500 is more of a collectors item in real terms but for SA, the normal RS understandibly falls in the same catergory.

Have a look at www.ford.co.uk and you'll notice how we get shafted when it comes to the price.

Standard RS costs £27 895 (R316329.3)
With all options £32535 (R368946.9)

I'll leave you with these shocking figures....

Extra 100k? Go to audi.co.za and use their vehicle configuration thingy... More like 430k with only the basic "optional" things like paint etc.
 
If your willing to pay a bit more and wait a bit... rumour is the new Audi RS3 will come with that wonderful 5 cylinder 2.5T from the Audi TT RS, and bring the manual gearbox along with it :D

that engine is awsome :D

wish i was in range of just the "normal" S3 :(
I'm an Audi fan its true, but you cant say thats not a nice car :)

70k, 100k same thing, Im sure this green thingy has some extras as well.

Now That is a car! Even worth R650 000 imo!!
That will also teach Ford what to do with a 2.5T engine!!
This Ford... let me giggle quick... does 0 - 100 in 6 seconds. Whats the TT RS time? :D :D
I actually think anyone with a MK5 Gti with a DP and chip will run very close to these RS cars... imagine paying R500k for this "fast" car and then getting beat by a now "standard" MK5 Gti!! :p
 
i hope the rs3 doesnt come, it'll make my car off the top notch

Well thats definitely a reason not to buy a car.... :wtf: cause it sucks on a gaming console :erm:

For that Price I would much rather get the BMW 3 Series Sedan 330D Steptronic.

Exactly the same price new.

Also, you guys notice BMW now have the CO2 Tax on their price lists.
 
i saw one of these green boogers on the highway this morning, but he was going in a differnet direction to me so i couldnt test him against the audi
 
S3, right?

I'd be interested to see that myself!
