Focus ST vs 135i

did you read the Mazda VS Golf 6 GTI this month? What a load of trash.

Half the time they cant decide, so they choose the VW anyway and say "it was very close" yeah right. Then they mixed up the prices and called the Mazda R7000 more expensive than the VW, when it was the other way around. And they went on about handling etc. funny how they didnt put them in a straight line to race too, so we could see the Mazda leave the Golf in a trail of low-emission fumes.

And every issue, is some or other stupid VW getting a review instead of one of the other hundreds of cars on the market.

And the tip of the iceberg for me was the Peugeot cc vs EOS when they claimed the EOS had a sport dashboard. hahaha. it was so plain a white piece of paper has more character.

All their articles are biased to VW which is why im moving onto another magazine, or episodes of Top Gear! :)

Totally agree bru.

But how is it that YOU always spot irregularities in Car's reviews, like mentioned previously I DON'T read Car...how can they make blatant mistakes like this?

Anyway, I've driven behind an MPS and its too quiet for my liking, NO ONE thrashes the stuff...you have to agree though, the Mazda 6 MPS looks better than most sedans out there, I'd almost say as good as a 159.

lol. i wanna go for a spin for a 159. where's an Alfa dealership near Sandton now?

i want a diesel, will try the 2.4jtd. i like the whole car, just never driven one.

best i leave ID book and stuff at home per chance the salespersons prey on my liking of the vehicle :)

Speaking of Jeremy Clarkson...lol he said that you should never go into an Alfa stealership, just do window shopping or browsing, because you'll buy something that will give you 5 years of misery and 5 years of joy!

LMAO

Coz the Mazda is better than the VW?
Mazda is crap, will always be crap, it looks ugly and goes fast in a staright line, have you been on the new Gti? You still want to compare it to a Mazda?
think Velenso has a MPS...

plus 1

:D you've just made my day... people don't get that the GTI is an all rounder. it's not relatively fast when you compare it to it's counter parts, but it's a more complete package... the sales figures speak for themselves:D

Can't agree more...but the problem lies with the fact that they are so follop...its success is its downfall imho...I don't like stuff that everyone else has.

1+ Theres nothing worse pulling up to a robot and theres three or four people with the same car as you.. Gti's are boring because of that

...but of course you are :)

Au contrair, mon ami. The 335i coupe DCT in fact has launch control...ever cared to read the owners manual for instructions ?

i know this ... but was not talking about the DCT ... the auto does not have launch control ...

EDIT: the DCT box is a recent addition to the 3 ... so my owners manual in 2007 did not have anything on DCT :) ...

Yeah but Gordon murray used the V12 from Bmw as mclaren was not an established car company at the time, same go's for koenigsegg they used a merc engine for the early model but for the ccxr the made there own engine.

My point is Ford has been round for donkey years they had a great racing heritage so it would be nothing for them to make an engine. but they didn't it was easier to get an engine from some one else, then remove the badge on the T5 motor and put Duratec when in fact it's not..

Maybe its just my fanboism but isnt the 2.5 turbo Audis creation from the Audi Quattro from the 80s??? The same one that Audi is using in the new RS3... 0 - 100 in 4.2s?? All Ford/Volvo can do with it is a lousy 166- 169kw?

It's just your fanboyism, I'm afraid. Besides the fact that both of those engines are inline 5 cylinders, they are in no way related. Additionally, the Volvo 5 pot in the Focus ST application is not nearly in as high a state of tune as the engine will reliably handle. Instead, for a better representation of what that engine is capable of, you should look at the Focus RS or the Volvo S60R, where this engine produces exactly the same power and torque as the BMW 135i engine with 500cc less displacement.

So no, 166kW is not all that Volvo/Ford can do with that engine.

The RS3 is doing 253kw and 450nm... less than the Ford RS but naturally almost 2 seconds faster... typical Ford.

Focus RS vs RS3, same engine capacity, Fail Ford!:p

Um, what RS3? Last time I checked it was a concept with production plans for end 2012 at the earliest. Frankly, it displays a sad level of desperation when one has to bring into the argument a car that is only due for release four years hence and then compare it to an engine that has already been in full scale production for seven years. Besides, you should check your facts - the quoted figures for that ghost car of yours are higher than that of the Focus RS, not less.

Lastly, your entire argument throughout this thread has been that it is impossible for a modified ST to soundly beat a BMW 135i yet when I prove otherwise all you've got to respond with is "typical Frod" and "fail, Ford". You'll have to do better than that. :D

Dunno:confused: the specs on that new 2.5t are Very Nice!! just wonder if it will be put in the Evo 10 and Sti class:confused:

That T5 engine is not being used to its full capacity, in the Volvo S60 T5 its pushing 191kw (around there) and its the same engine..
