Can anyone help me with how did this guy get that icing so red. Normally my icing I color with red comes out pink! :p

And how does he get the black? :erm:

most baking supplies shops sell gel food colouring.
it has a high pigment density, so you don't have to use a lot (i think it was R20/R30 a bottle)
in joburg, i can think of 3:

1. at the carreira centre on republic road near the waterfront
2. hobart centre, hobart rd, bryanston
3. kadies at the kingfisher center on kingfisher road, fourways.

i did this with the black a few months back:

use wooden spoon white margarine if you want pure colours, otherwise everything gets a yellow tint.

lol, cool cake! :)

Thanks for the links. Didn't even know about the one near the Waterfront. Is this before or after the Waterfront from Cresta's side?

after - on the right hand side, if you're heading towards multichoice.

I think people use the gel and a powder to get dark colours. I've tried with just the gel, and I still got pink icing....
