Cooked food should reach room temperature before refrigeration or freezing.
The key here is temperature. Just warm it up really, really hot. Eat and enjoy. Leaving it out AND eating it at room temp. will probably kill you....
We made beef shin curry on Saturday night and it was refridgerated until yesterday evening. I put it in a tupperware container with the intention to freeze it, seeing as there was a lot left and I didn't want to throw it out. Unfortunately I forgot to put it in the freezer and it stood outside (lid closed) all night.
What's the general rule of thumb on this kind of thing? Can I risk eating it or should I just chuck it? Would be a shame to chuck it seeing as it was really good curry and there's still a lot of it.
Thats not true. You can put it in the fridge straight away. The quicker it can get out of the danger zone (5-65°c) the better. Thats straight from the head food scientist of one of the largest food retailers in the country. Asked them myself.
Bacteria doubles every 20min at room temp. You will be taking quite a risk. Rather learn from your mistake. Food poisoning is not something you want to play with.
its good to cleanse the colon - curry sitting overnight at room temp, yummy....I am so hungry right now
