500m yes, but the trees - depends how dense is the foilage is and when it rains it can decrease performance etc etc . You will have to test it. I am no expert,setup up a few sites.Thats my humble opinion

Hopefully some of the Wisp or WUG guys can provide a more technical answer.

I can confirm Nanostation's are awesome little devices, but please clear line of site is imperative to good use out of any wireless equipment. Remember clear line of site includes the fresnel zone area as well.
