The system restore folder on my portable drive is not from any of the computers at my home. I've disabled system restore on all of them. The system restore folder is taking up about 1GB of space and I have no idea how to delete it. I've tried WinDirStat and CCLeaner as well as manually deleting the folder but nothing seems to work.

How can I do this? On Windows7...

Have you tried resetting permissions and deleting? Or try movefile from sysinternals.com, it will delete a file when the system boots: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb897556.aspx

I tried resetting the permissions and taking ownership but did not work. The problem with movefile (from what I can see) is that you have to delete a file and not a folder... There are hundreds of files in the 50 or so folders

Share the folder first (give authority to change files). That will give you permission to get inside it. Then delete the contents. You won't actually be able to delete the folder tho.

Good point, never thought of that. Try remove all the permissions, including system, and then reboot (the system will not be able to access the files), add the permissions back and then delete.
