Well it only switched to Edge when there is no 3G available.

If you have 3G switched on it'll find the signal... Unless it isn't there of course... For that, you need to have a word with whoever your mobile provider is.

PS. Have a look at Cell Phone Coverage Map to check which provider has the best 3G coverage in your area.
