Ok, after no luck fart-arsing around for the last hour i've not made any progress.

I've got a file i just need to delete but it tells me the kuk below and so i boot into safe made and it still tells me the same shyte. Then looked for a small program to do it and that came of nothing and then i tried dos thing but couldnt get that to work.

volume label syntax is incorrect.

Dont really want to DL a proggie if dos can do it.

You see my file goes something this

?????_hairy_icecube.mht

I assume the question marks have screwed the file

Lets say the file sits in the following folder, what exactly do i put in for forced delete?

C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\

What command are you using? Are you able to write to the file?

I cant do anything to it, and i'm not 100% sure of how i must put it in the line...???

del/f/C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\?????_hairy_icecube.mht

Is that right?

Oh, dear killbox dont work - .ocx file missing....

im a little confused about about what happens with del /f? but to delete a file in dos you can go to the directory and delete so if you open cmd

cd \
cd Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader
del ???_hairy_icecube.mht

or del C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\?????_hairy_icecube.mht

/f forces deletion..

Ok, S1ght recommendation says the system cannot find the specified path.

Well the specified path is correct. I've tripple checked it.

i'll google for the ocx file....

You cannot have ????'s in a filename (and the hairy_icecube sounds a bit dodgy as well, but I'll say nothing ;) )

Short Answer: You have a corrupted disk and need some sort of repair. Start by running a 'chkdsk /F /R' , (which requires a reboot) and if that doesn't work try looking at something better to do a repair.

Did you try the first all the second one?

ren C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\?????_hairy_icecube.mht C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\hairy_icecube.mht

del /f C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\hairy_icecube.mht

edit (long shot): failing that, try and get the command prompt into 16-bit mode. Easiest way is to type debug, then q to quit. Then try deleting the 16-bit filename.
