I don't think so. There are a couple of these factional groupings within the ANC. There's also the Anyone But Zuma group, as well as the Friends of the Youth League. None of them are official, so it's more like internal lobbying and jostling for power.

He's just never come across as very 'presidential' or 'statesman-like' to me. He's more of a typical slimy, scheming politician. Not that Zuma comes across as 'presidential' or 'statesman-like', of course.

In terms of competence for the job, they're all bad, and anyone who ascends to the top rungs of the ANC will have made promises and will be bound by the ANC processes and decision-making, ergo, nobody can save the ANC, even if they are a good president.
