Hi guys,

I've been struggling real bad the past few weeks with latency problems(Huawei E220 USB modem), I've noticed that it's cause by my modem dropping from HSDPA to UMTS. Is there any way to force it to stay on HSDPA permanently ?

The only way to 'force' it to stay on HSDPA (cyan light) as opposed to falling back to 3G (blue light) is to ensure there is constant data flowing.

The moment there is a drop in data (typical internet activity is bursty by nature), the modem will automatically drop back to 3G.

Run a ping -t in the background and see if this works. But only do this for the period you want the modem to stay in HSDPA (like while you playing an on-line game).

Playing World of Warcraft most of the time so there should be a constant flow of data, stopping it from dropping to 3G. Will try the ping option and see what happens.

Thx for the quick reply :D

Have a constant ping running to smtp.vodacom.co.za but it still drops to 3G and back. Any other suggestions?
