Hi

My mom's Ford Ka stalls when it needs to idle.

I thought it was the fuel filter and replaced it but it still does it.

Ever since she got the car time and again when waiting at an intersection it would keep revving to about 2000rpm on it's own. Only to stop it was to disengage the clutch.

Now the problem is it drives fine and starts fine, but when in traffic the car almost cuts power and you need to keep revving it to prevent stalling.

What can be the issue?

I had a similar problem with my Toyota. Had it serviced (Toyota Kenilworth)and they cleaned the throttle body. Maybe thats the problem.
Funny enough got the car back and it idled at 2500rpm and using double the amount of petrol with slow acceleration. Took it back to them but they wanted to replace the throttle body for R7000 excluding labour. Anyway went to another garage and they readjusted and cleaned the throttle body for R350. Driving perfect since then.

Tell your mom to replace the motor with her sewing machine she will have twice the power.
