Ford Kuga 2.5t A/T

I'm considering buying used 2013 2.5t, low mileage with full service history, for a reasonable price from somebody I know well.
Fire jokes aside, does anybody have any real experience with these? Is it going to last me at least 8 years?
 
I've heard the 1.5 ecoboost is also quite thirsty. I know CAR magazine did its long term review of the automatic. It returned something like 11l/100km or 13l/100km.

I shiver to think what the 2.5T might do.

They're pretty similar, depending on driving style, off course. The smaller engines, their pricing and reputation don't do it for me unfortunately.

Yip. I've got one.
To the OP. I am not selling mine, I only got it last year. If the feul thirst is not too much for you, then it's a great car for the money. I do 90% town stop start driving, very little long road top gear driving. Currently the CPU indicates a average of 11.8 l/100km. Not to bad for a heavy, rather powerful SUV I think. Its CPU is spot on so this is a real life figure. This car shows many others a clean set of heels. Not slow at all.
Feel free to ask what you might need to know.

Yeah there was article on forum also about woman that complained about it also, think it might be better to get the diesel model.

Diesel SUV makes more sense, need torque to move that weight.

Spoke to a lady at a garage the other day, she said she is not selling it, never.

Awesome - thank you. This is exactly the kind of info I am looking for. The one I am looking at has under 50,000km on the clock, making it tremendous value when purchased second hand. I do about 12,000km per year, so not too worried about the relatively high fuel consumption.

I wish I could have picked mine up with such low kilos. Mines got 110 000km on the clock. I cannot think you can make a mistake with this one, especially if the price is good as well. Just do it:D
 
Lasting another 8 years on top of the already 6-8 years it has aged already? Be prepared to fork out big cash to maintain it. It is not a Ford issue, it is modern-day-car issue.

Having it checked at Dekra this weekend - a clean report will seal teh deal.

Agreed, going into this with eyes wide open.
 
Well, let me put it like this. If the time comes for a later model, I would have bought this same car again with the same engine, just a later model. But since Ford have ceased building the Kuga with the Volvo 5-potter in 2013, I will have to buy the 2.0 Ecoboost if I want another Kuga when the time comes. I really enjoy this 5-potter. It sounds almost like a 4 cylinder when idling and driving with a light throttle, but the moment you put more pressure on the throttle, you are rewarded with that lovely multi cylinder engine sound. I will surely miss that. But at least the 2.0 Ecoboost gives a whole 30kw more power and should be lighter on fuel as well. That is something I can also look forward to. Perhaps next year when my bonus comes around...

Tekra inspection all clear, road worthy passed. 2013 2.5T, 48,000km on the clock, private purchase from a known party, will get it next week. Such a shame Ford phased this engine out, I just love it's sound and performance!

Isn't the new engine German, and won a price somewhere.

Congrats. 48K is really nothing for this motor. You are going to love this car
