Hi

My primary hard drive turned raw and I want to do a recovery. I tried icare software and it says the files are a 100%rexoverable. However the output are files without the original names, eg zip001,zip002 etc and I obviously can't go through thousands of files to see what I want without valid file names. Is there any solution that will recover including filenames.

Thx

What is your filesystem? Try different software. Don't allow to do any changes to this drive.

Edit: Second thought: Is your hard drive plugged to the same controller? Some controllers report reduced LBA size, in my example it was USB bridge. It makes problems with some recovery programs and also attempts to access areas reported by partition table can cause drive to stop responding.

Had the same problem with iCare.

MiniAide Magic Partition Home Edition 5.5 did the trick like a baws. Drive was actually bootable afterwards, instead of simply a RAW recovery.

Restorer Ultimate seems to be doing the trick... :-D - thank you so much.

I tried Magic Partition, but am not getting a restore or recover option :(

Thx... Says it's gonna take 1-3 days to copy across, lol

It was brilliant. Finished at 1am this morning, successfully recovered 610000 files and only lost 86 files sue to cyclic redundancy errors. Very impressed and definitely the best recovery software I have used.

I wonder this program do any checking for disk errors? You might have many more broken files not detected. CRC errors can be only detected on compressed files like ZIP, RAR.
Use the program which reports disk errors and you can setup number of retries. Try DMDE, I forgotten to mention. Also when having disk read errors consider full imaging (not file copying).
