The best security guards are in the Carlton Centre. They go out of their way to help you find a parking space and are super friendly - and they don't expect a tip.

But the Dainfern mob.... I may be wrong but I thought that there used to be a road from William Nicol to Cedar and that the Dairfern people blocked it off. I can remember taking a ride with a colleague and for what ever reason we ended up on that road, next thing we're in a queue and we get an access pass. So we wander through and at the other end the guards say we have to go back to the entrance we came in. The didn't realise that my colleague was a complete and utter loon and tailgated some resident. Of course this resident had to stick her nose in the whole deal and tried to stop to block him - the boom came down on her car and then lifted up. She went forward to get out of the way and we drove past and waved. I think he may still have their access card thingy.

They did find out at the end it was some police officer that got a couple of ppl to rent a place and robbed the places one by one. Clearly, then, the guards are useless. Okay, maybe not the chaps at the gate but the company providing security. How much of a genius do you need to be to realise that if they aren't breaching the gate and that they are within?
 
IMHO joost wouldn't hav turned into the incredible hulk if they had made a plan.

I think a Numberplate could be taken as Identification, as Everything can be faked anyway - what makes a little laminated License card better than a Numberplate?:confused::confused:

Certainly a guy with no car and an easy to fake License has more motive to steal or whatever than a person driving a luxury car with a Numberplate ??

Just because they don't have a phone in the booth doesn't make it your problem to drive all the way home.

Well then I would have been exceedingly pissed off. The reason that the Post Office will ONLY accept ID documents and Passports is that driver's licenses are so easy to forge. These guys are clearly in their own little world. What bloody difference does it make what identification it is?

A question to those of you who have been to Dainfern before ... is it made clear that the only acceptable form of ID, to gain entrance to Dainfern, is a drivers licence?

Yes, u are defending him cause he allegidly had ID and passport. GOOD

BUT, I am defending him whether or NOT he had that.... A Numberplate is still Identification.

Just because he says he had his ID, doesn't make it true.
But if he proves it, then its def wrong on the guards side!

Number plate and photograph should suffice.
 
The next day security at Dainfern Estate proved that they hadn't let their guard down, in a manner of speaking, when boxer Corrie Sanders showed up without identification.

He'd been invited to take part in a golf day for charity but was stopped at the gate for not having any proof of identity.

After a heated encounter with a guard at the gate, Corrie phoned the golf day's organisers and told them he was going home. The organisers then convinced him to stay and "smuggled" him into the estate.

The estate's management got word of what had happened and the organisers insisted he apologise to the estate's "big bosses".

Corrie said he found it all "absolutely absurd and ridiculous" seeing as he'd been invited to do a good deed but was then treated like a criminal.

who do they think they are? Kings or something?
 
When I read the article this morning the first thing I thought was that that sounds like I place I want to live in. Awesome security.

I also heard somewhere that Joost paid R100k for the license plate "9 GP". Not sure if it is true though.

Yesterday I saw "4 WP" in Mouille Point on a White Bentley GT Convertible.
 
I would NOT want a number like 9 GP, even if it was givin to me for free.
You could never have a hit and run with an easy-to-remember numberplate like 9 GP...:D

According to the radio report, his car had no licence plates.
