Hi Folks

My apologies for the tremendous amount of downtimes recently. I can assure you that I am doing my best do ensure 100% uptime, but as you know the hosting is out of my hands. I am spending a great deal of time on the phone with Afrihost, but it does not seem to sink in that there is a bigger problem to be fixed. I find it frustrating and am considering a few options to solve this problem…

Can you guys please give your view on the matter. Should we move hosting companies now, should we wait and asses the uptime in the next few weeks, should we keep it there and hope for the best? If we should move, what options do we have (how do we know it will be a better company)?

I will appreciate your views on the matter.

Regards,

RPM

Hey RPM!

I am a using MWEB 56k connection, and I must say that when the site is up, it loads really quickly.

The downtime doesn't bother me too much, I can usually just logon a little bit later and it is sorted - No big hassle.

RPM, does your hosting company offer any kind of guarantee. Or is this another "best effort" service?

I have noticed the forums being offline quite a bit lately, which surprised me because I can't remember them being down at all with your last hosting company.

I feel pretty strongly that if you're paying for the service, you should be getting what you pay for.

If it was up to me, I would monitor the downtime and if it does not improve, I would move to a better hosting company. At this stage I can't suggest a company which hosts in SA, but I'll have a look around.

Hi RPM,

I agree with VQuest. I can also recommend HETZNER. I host a site with them & never had any downtime... [:)]
