Its one thing to have to read about people's tragic problems about how their pet budgie got out of the cage, or how x cheated on y and she's having an emo meltdown in full view of everyone, but when somebody emails me crap like this on Facebook, I half expect to find nothing but fresh air after I peel their head open with a can opener. Don't do it! :)

An urgent email I received from our local crime prevention organisation: Be on the lookout for a SILVER TOYOTA COROLLA 2003/4 model, tinted windows, with registration PNW886GP. The driver is thought to be a Nigerian; he is trying to kidnap young girls.On Wednesday morning he attempted to kidnap a young girl in Mayville & tried again to kidnap a young girl in Pretoria North this morning.

He has also been spotted in Johannesburg and Cape Town . They were talking about this email on Morning Live & Gareth Cliff also mentioned it on 5fm.

SAP had a meeting this week about the 2010 world cup and they say we have to guard our children more than gold (this goes for BOYS & GIRLS). We must remember that loads of Nigerians and other foreign national’s will be coming to South Africa and that sex and drug trading is a reality. PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY.

No joking chaps. In Hankey (Eastern Cape) , a 7year old brown girl is missing since the weekend. She was last seen while getting into a sedan (unknown reg. nr.) The said vehicle was driven by a very dark skinned middle aged male of African origin. If anyone has any info please contact the nearest police station or Col. Zeilie - head crime intelligence Kwaga region. What bothers me most is that none of the major news papers picked up on this ! The news paper are all ablaze about the McDonals cell phone theft story (worth 2000 RAND) yet they don't bother about this poor girl :-(

I saw that exact same e-mail about a year ago. Talk about current events. :rolleyes:
 
I check emails like these on snopes.com, and inevitably it's something that has been going around for awhile, with a few details changed.

Only found one that appeared genuine (some place needing food for their animals), but wasn't too intrerested as it was some town in the US, and not local, anyway.

I have managed to get some more info regarding the missing girl. She is gone for almost 2weeks now. Don't bother to phone the said colonel. No case has been opened, only a enquiry. And she is not from Hankey but from Patensie (according to GE the towns are within a few km of each other) W.O. Booyesen is the right person to contact at Patensie SAP 042-2838417. They think the girl has been taken to Port Elizabeth and might be used in the sex industry.
