So I lost my iphone clubbing a few days and it was switched off when tried to calling it after I noticed it was missing. So I've been stalking gumtree for a few days hoping it would appear and I think it has. If I can confirm its my phone, can I go to the police have them retrieve the phone?

See it as school fees and upgrade to a real phone

I agree and I'd recommend a .50 BMG for that undertaking.

I was in the same situation. They let me phone the guy to meet up to buy the phone in Long street Cape Town.

I met the guy on Long street and the police watched on the cctv which covers the street. As soon as he produced the phone, 3 police pitched up on scramblers and arrested the guy.

This was on a Sunday afternoon though and the police where chilling at the station with nothing to do. If they had been busy I doubt that they would have entertained it.
