You're gonna hate yourself living in a 30sqm box.

Effectively what you're doing is buying a jail cell with a beter finish and a nicer view...
 
Gah I do generally trust your opinions DJ cause you come across as the wise sagely type - I just can't bare a years rent at current pricing - R4000 a month to RENT a jail cell
 
Yeah you guys might be right - looking at plans - lounge is 3.7 by 2.4 - thats pretty freaking tiny

But we went over this buy vs rent issue with you already. You're gonna have to stay in that place for a few years to even break even if you were to sell. Your best bet is to find a place that you can see yourself living in a for a few years...happily.

You'll live to regret buying, what HapticSiminan correctly referred to as a broom cupboard. That is the kind of place that other investors sell to people with spare cash as a spot to rent out to the likes of you. I don't think buying it will leave you a happy guy. I could think of nothing worse than despising going home (which is coincidentally why I'm single as well..:D )

Our corner couch is 3m x 2m... and it only just seats 5 comfortably. Don't do it. Settle for 5km inland and you'll still have it better than all us plebs up on the Highveld.
 
I don't think I would be able to sit far away enough from my lcd - bleh - thanks for talking sense into me - once I get the itch I kinda become a bull in a china shop

Good decision. I mean, even if you coaxed some one into visiting you (and lets be honest, no one with a 30sqm apartment deserves any friends to come over), if either of you would go into the toilet, the smells and noises would be rather hard to conceal.
 
So the lounge is 9sqm of the 30sqm ... And a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen fit in the other 21sqm?

Maybe I read the plans wrong will talk to estate agent today - but looked at a few apartments with comparable sizes - most bachelors are bigger than that
